Where Bloggers Create 2012 – My Craft Loft

Welcome to my crafting space!  I am very late getting this up but I still wanted to participate in this year’s “Where Bloggers Create 2012” so here it is!  I hope you enjoy my loft/craft room and I can’t wait to look around at everyone’s inspiring spaces!

My craft room is a loft located immediately at the top of our stairs.  It works well for a craft space because of all the natural light from the big window.  I bought my desk years ago at an office supply store and it has changed my life!  I used to keep my scrapbooking supplies in a rolling cart because we had a tiny apartment so when we bought our house the first thing I wanted was a dedicated space to craft.  This is without a doubt my favorite room in the house.

Here is the view as you come from the stairs:

My L-Desk is where I keep the majority of my scrapbooking supplies.  I have a small kids table in the middle of the room where my son and nephew do crafts together and I keep craft supplies (mine and kids) in the white dresser, including coloring books, painting supplies, stamping supplies, and finished scrapbook pages that haven’t been placed in books.

Here is the dresser wall:

As you may have noticed, I collect Longaberger baskets and have them everywhere in this room!  The green keeping baskets store Christmas themed scrapbook ribbon and the Longaberger wrought iron newspaper stand is the perfect size for holding 8×8 albums.  The gathering basket on the shelf holds my paintbrushes in mason jars so when I am ready to paint I just grab down the basket and everything is ready!

Here are some additional views of the desk:

I use the computer storage cabinet to hold 8×11 cardstock and 12×12 pads of scrapbook paper.

The file drawer organized stickers and embellishments:

I bought this ribbon holder at Michaels and I love how it keeps my “everyday” scrapbooking ribbon where I can get to it and gives me an extra shelf!  The narrow basket holds frequently used punches.

The hutch has several Mom’s Memories baskets where I organize my “to-be-scrapbooked” photos:

Next to my desk is a wrought iron shelf with baskets that hold extra ribbon, embellishments, and some craft keepsakes.  The large basket on the floor holds all of my counted cross-stitch.  The white-framed pegboard is where I put my son’s artwork.

Here is another view of my craft loft from the hallway.

Well that is my craft loft!  I love having a dedicated space where my son and I can do crafts together.  After living in a one bedroom apartment for the first few years of marriage I feel so blessed to have an entire room to keep my crafts in!  And to be able to share and create with my son in my room makes it all the more special.

Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to seeing all of the beautiful spaces from Where Bloggers Create!  Thank you My Desert Cottage for hosting!  Here is the original blog post for any who are interested in seeing all the other amazing spaces!

Gob Bless and have a wonderful day!

Allison

  3. This is a beautiful space, so neat and organized! I remember those days when the little ones had a table had their table in my space – I had higher counters to keep little hands from touching things that might be dangerous. Now they are bigger and love to come sit at those counters while I have moved to a regular height desk!

Lovely space, Allison! You are so neat and organized. I’ll bet you get great light coming in that window. It’s nice that you’ve got enough room as well for the little table and chairs for your son to craft with you. Thanks for sharing your creative space!
